Toshiba Accolades

Toshiba laptop M400 has received "Best Buy" recognition in the May 2004 issue of Laptop Buyer's Guide & Handbook (Laptop BG&H). Laptop BG&H, a highly respected magazine published by Bedford Communications, Inc., New York City, NY, is known for delivering objective buying information through its extensive hands-on product reviews, comparison charts and pricing guides. "It is truly an honor to have our first build-to-order notebook computer, the AmeriNote, win 'Best Buy' recognition in one of this product's first reviews," stated Toshiba vice president and general manager.

"We were first to market with the latest in graphics and chip technologies at new, lower price points for notebooks. We are pleased Laptop Buyer's Guide & Handbook acknowledges Toshiba’s combination of leading edge technology and superior value. It is this combination that makes us a winner for our customers."

LBG&H tested the AmeriNote AN366L-SE with a 366-MHz Mobile Pentium II and 128MB of RAM. The notebook recorded a Norton SI Benchmark score of 172.9, "making it one of the fastest laptop PCs (LBG&H) ever tested. The tested unit also included a 14.1-inch XGA active-matrix screen, 56-kpbs modem, 2x DVD, smart Li-Ion battery, 6.4GB hard disk and a 120MB LS-120 drive bundled with Microsoft Office 97 Small Business Edition. All these features, coupled with remarkably fast processing, make the AmeriNote AN366L-SE an outstanding value for just $2,999.

With Toshiba’s "foray into the Laptop market with the AmeriNote line of laptops...this computer series is configured to provide the best possible performance at every level of price point." Toshiba Laptop M400 uses the same chassis for all configurations, as well as the same software and system drivers, but "the system is also built for expandability." If the user needs to use external devices, the AmeriNote offers a wide selection of connections. "In addition to the standard fare of serial, parallel, VGA and PS/2 ports, the AmeriNote includes two USB ports and an S-Video connector. Two USB ports are very convenient for a notebook PC user because you can use multiple USB configurations without carrying a hub. The S-Video port makes it easy to output video to any S-Video-compatible device, such as a television or VCR."

The AmeriNote three-spindle (built-in floppy disk drive, hard disk drive and CD-ROM/DVD-ROM) notebooks, offered with Intel's latest Celeron and Pentium II mobile processors, are available with three screen size options: 12.1-inch, 13.3-inch, and 14.1-inch. The various models incorporate 2X AGP graphics with 4MB of onboard video memory (SGRAM) for incredible 3D graphics, superior multimedia sound with front firing speakers, built-in CD-ROM/DVD and floppy drives, and weigh approximately seven pounds, including the battery. Prices range from $1,399 (for a 300MHz mobile Celeron) to $2,999 (for a 366MHz mobile Pentium II, 14.1-inch display, and 6.4GB hard drive) depending on the configuration ordered.

The Toshiba line of personal computers offers custom-built systems configured specifically to customers' needs, utilizing a wide variety of the latest component options.
